stop negative self-talk
START LIVING.

Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health. Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include:

  • Increased life span

  • Lower rates of depression

  • Lower levels of distress

  • Greater resistance to the common cold

  • Better psychological and physical well-being

  • Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease

  • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

Positive thinking doesn't mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life's less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst.

Positive thinking often starts with self-talk. Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. These automatic thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of your self-talk comes from logic and reason. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you create because of lack of information.

If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook on life is more likely pessimistic. If your thoughts are mostly positive, you're likely an optimist — someone who practices positive thinking.

EMDR works, if administered in the right manner. Put it simply, it is the same theory as how keys can open locks.  However, fitting the key upside down or sideways will not open the lock. Dr Matthew knows how to fit the key in, the right way.

Dr Matthew knows how to administer EMDR in an extremely efficient manner by sifting through the information given by the patient and skillfully picking out the issues which are imperative to be addressed.

I used to resort to "coping” with overpowering emotions using means like alcohol, physical self-mutilation, etc. It’s been a few months since I’ve completed therapy and I’m as emotionally healthy as ever. I can therefore be certain to say that EMDR helps not only while you’re undergoing therapy, the recovery also lasts even after leaving therapy. Thank you Dr Matthew for giving me the much needed edge to get back on track.

I am thankful for EMDR because it has decreased significantly my pain levels. It has helped to focus on my work better and don’t waste time on this pain. We tried many treatments for my back pains, but the pain didn’t reduce unless I took painkillers. But with EMDR, the pain reduced almost instaneously. My pain levels have gone by 80% in 4 weeks, just in time for my ‘O’ levels.

Ever since I took on EMDR, it has helped to remove all my negative emotions and anxieties. The installation of positive cognitions has helped to improve my performance at the workplace and also made me a much more positive person. I feel that I am able to analyse things much better and faster than before I started treatment.

EMDR is-a-miracle! No Relapse and treat the problem at its roots!

I have been seeking help for years, I went for counselling for 3 years, to schools, community centres and churches, and took anti-depressants for 6 months. It does not work for me, because my objective is to treat the roots. EMDR changed me into a different person that I never thought I will be. Like in terms of emotions, I am always very extreme, with many ups and downs. People, especially my family and my ex-bfs, say that I am usually a very difficult person to handle, because of my extreme emotions. Now, after EMDR, I am a changed person. I am TOO CHILL now, and I need time to get used to my new emotions. People around me observe my changes; my bf, boss and parents say that I react differently to triggers now, I don’t get irritated easily, and it is difficult for me to get agitated now.

Trust me! Try it and you will see the difference! It works on everyone, and the cool thing is you don’t need to believe in it to make it work!

Ms B. BabyBomber, 24, business development manager

My initial thinking was that this is really hokey pokey, there is no medication and hypnosis, there is no invasive probing of treatment and by a simple gesture of EMDR procedure, I always feel better than when I first came in. My partner committed suicide and I saw him jump off the balcony when he connected me on whats apps video. It was traumatic and devastating and after 6 sessions of EMDR treatment, I felt so much better and waves of sorrow and despair disappeared and everytime I think of the positive cognition, I am comforted.

Dr LS, 60, pharmaceutical and research scientist

It is amazing. I tell all my friends who has issues that they should try EMDR. EMDR has helped me to focus better, think better, and not be guilty for long time.

Joanna, 37, property industry

EMDR has helped me to reduce my stress and anxiety levels, as well as helped me to manage my anger better. In about 2 months, I felt significantly better.

Discover

Your Greatest Self.

When you employ the attitude of being your best self, and your focus is toward the highest good, your sense of who you really are will get stronger, and you will get more out of life. You will get a wonderful feeling from doing the right thing. This feeling is unmistakable and can come from taking action to help those in need or from making the world a tiny bit better in any way you can!

TAKE BACK

YOUR LIFE.

If you tend to have a negative outlook, don't expect to become an optimist overnight. But with practice, eventually your self-talk will contain less self-criticism and more self-acceptance. You may also become less critical of the world around you.

When your state of mind is generally optimistic, you're better able to handle everyday stress in a more constructive way. That ability may contribute to the widely observed health benefits of positive thinking.

Yes, you can take back your life when you practise positive thinking every day.

Now I know why EMDR is so effective for me. Because Jesus uses EMDR to minister to me, to my broken relationships, to my trauma. Jesus healed me of my trauma through EMDR. EMDR has helped me to manage my anger, and people around me all notice it that my moods are much better in control. Thank God for EMDR.

Being unable to breathe, the notion the every other step requires the effort more akin to traversing through thick sludge - and sometimes falling into in anyway. Perhaps the after effects of abuse and/or neglect is can be far worse than the event itself - I wouldn't know. I don't remember.

At least, not before attending EMDR sessions with Dr Woo. I was a curious case - only belatedly aware of what has happened, I never understood why I could not simply stay in the present. EMDR changed that. It's a simple premise - the turbo-charged processing of memories that caused the physical manifestations. It is far, far faster than conventional behavioral therapy, if only because it aids you in processing your memories on your own. Dr Woo starts with a memory, and you traverse down the channel yourself. You emerge at the end to kind, kind eyes and a simple "how was it" - no pressure to articulate, or put into language all that you have been through. I fully corroborate with the idea that a single session of EMDR is akin to "unloading your troubles with a friend for 100 hours".

The lack of weight on my chest, and the ability to breathe properly again - that I believe, is a far better testimonial than anything I could possibly have written.

EMDR has really helped me with my energy levels, and I am a lot more confident about what I can do now.  I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome for 5 years now, and after going through many tests, doctors have all said that there is nothing much they can do for me. EMDR has really helped me greatly to process the memory of my fatigue syndrome, and my energy levels have improved by 80%.

I went to see Dr Woo to seek remedy for depression and mood swings which had severely affected my concentration. I was taking part time studies and had to spend $10k to repeat my studies because I could not meet the deadlines for the assignments. My problems were deep rooted and I had reservation about the efficacy of EDMR that Dr Woo uses. While my temperament simmered down after undergoing treatments, I couldn't be be sure if it was because of EDMR initially. For years I had struggled with my assignments. Everytime I do homework I'll feel like sliting my hands. But I just handed in a 300 pages plan without any blood. So I'll recommend any people out there who has anger management issues to seek EDMR through Dr Woo.

I am really happy about EMDR, because it was the only thing that worked on me. I tried talking with other psychologists, but that didn’t help me. Even though I have good and bad moments, but the emdr effects are really fast. If someone tells me a few months ago I will get better with my anxiety, I wouldn’t believe it. I feel that I have grown up from all the therapy, and feel stronger and happier.

At first, I was a bit skeptical because I was expecting something more grander. I just realised it is like a vibrating machine, so I was not too impressed. But then my mother said that I have done a lot of treatment before this, and we just decided to try it out and see what happens. Slowly, step by step, I started to realise that this treatment is actually working. I was thinking that it was something I was doing before, but all the evidences are pointing to EMDR is helping me with my intense chronic headaches for the last 3 years. My chronic headaches causes me to miss a lot of my schools and made it difficult to catch up with my school work. Thankfully, the treatment has helped to stop the school absences.

I have been suffering from OCD for a number of years, and I have looked for help in various places. But Dr Woo has really helped me to recover from OCD in just 1.5 years. Dear Dr Woo, I am deeply grateful to the words of wisdom that you have imparted to me. The gift of yours will be a valuable companion to me as I course through the tides of life. While you have often praised me that I am your model, in truth, I believe that you are a model physician...

Mr Tay, a 21 year old student

Dr. Matthew Woo is an affectionate physician who cares for his patients with the professionalism of an accomplished clinician and the endearment of a confidante. His warm and jubilant nature belies his years of experience and knowledge in the field of psychology. There are many physicians who help their patients overcome the obstacles they face in life but there are few who are capable of empowering patients to do so through their own means. Dr. Woo is one of the very few clinicians amongst the latter who have attained such excellence in his area of expertise.

My experience here was a pleasent and fufiling. Doctor Woo helped me understand and work through my problems in a very effective manner. He helped me work on itch management and anxiety problems which i had very little prior knowledge. I would reccommend Dr Woo to my friends and family in need of assitance in the future.

I had a very good experience with this treatment. It has helped to be desensitised to the triggers that has affected me, and instead let me work on my triggers than to get upset about it. EMDR has been very quick for me, and I like myself having a more positve mindset after the treatment.

The techniques used are very effective to curb arousal and attraction to girls in MRT, shopping malls. Now after emdr processing, when I go out for lunch, I will feel very different and no longer get aroused and make an effort to look at girls around me. I have to say that the doctor is extremely professional and approachable, and I felt at ease throughout the sessions. I would recommend that people who feel that there is something wrong with their emotions or sexual arousal should not hesitate to come in to get treatment

I think it has helped me to get over deep seated anger over a situation of aggravated assault. EMDR has helped me being considerably more comfortable with day to day triggers, and even the recall of the situation.

Anon, 24, researcher

Within a very short time, EMDR has helped me to be able to deal with my anxiety and guilt with regards to taking care of my little boy. My fear does not paralyse me anymore, and I am looking forward to a healthy delivery

LL, 33, expectant mother,

EMDR helped me to focus on specific triggers that I did not know existed. EMDR treated my eating problem faster than other therapies. EMDR treated the problem in a very specific way, every single session was targetting something new – including calorie counting - about my eating disorder and when I combined all the sessions I had together, it led me to a recovery.

MC, 18, student

EMDR has helped me with anger management, my insecurities, and technically has helped to change my whole life. I have become more chill and I feel calmer compared to before with everything including my friends, colleagues and family. It has helped me with work, and helped me to be more productive and creative.

I, 23, Events executive

EMDR has made me feel better in controlling my emotions. I cannot seem to remember what used to upset, I cant force it out. So I am better with EMDR in my pregnancy.

V, pregnant, 35, Management executive

I am usually filled with worries, and EMDR has helped to unclutter my mind, and focus on the present. I have significantly less panic attacks.
